First light ridges
East-facing arêtes caught in the first three minutes of sun — gold on frost, long blue shadows in the combes.

The series
This is the heart of Tarnlight: dawn climbs, storm clearings and the brief violet minutes after sunset. Each frame is scouted on foot, often twice — once in foul weather to learn the ground, once when the light finally agrees. Nothing here is composited; the sky you see is the sky that was there.
What the series holds
East-facing arêtes caught in the first three minutes of sun — gold on frost, long blue shadows in the combes.
Low cloud pouring through passes at daybreak, shot from above the white — the fells as islands.
Snow lines under starlight from the darkest valleys in England, tracked, stacked and printed deep.
Approach
A landscape commission or print purchase supports the same slow method: ordnance maps, bothy nights and return visits until the weather keeps its promise. I deliver finished, framed-ready files with a note on the exact hour and hillside each one came from.
The print hangs over our stairwell and stops guests mid-step. You can feel the cold air in it.
